HVACR Skills Competition and Showcase

The HVACR Skills Competitions at CMPX are back!

Three action-packed days of exciting competitions, featuring secondary and post-secondary students vying for the title of Champion!

Day 1: Heating Systems Gauntlet (Post-Secondary)
Day 2: Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Showdown (Post-Secondary)
Day 3: Heating Systems & Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Challenge (Secondary)

All competitions will feature hands-on only practical challenges designed for Post-Secondary or Secondary students to showcase their HVACR proficiency, as well as a mock interview offering professional, real-world feedback.

Students will race against the clock to demonstrate, through practical application, their skills and task knowledge in the HVACR industry relevant to:

• Electricity, pressure, mechanics of Refrigeration systems and hydrocarbon fuel-based heating systems (natural gas, propane, oil)

• Ability to understand and follow wiring diagrams and manuals

• Knowledge and use of applicable health and safety regulations

• Adjusting and checking of safety/operating controls including equipment commissioning of a Refrigeration and/or air conditioning system and/or gas-fired appliance as per the manufacturer’s instructions (Post-Secondary only)

• Problem solving in relation to refrigeration and air conditioning systems and/or heating systems (Post-Secondary only)
